Two major spring storms hit a week apart, bringing much needed relief from the drought while making it difficult to feed and care for cattle.
Sterling and Stetson spent a lot of hours in the saddle, checking the drop bunch, tagging calves, moving pairs and seasoning horses.

Sterling kicked off a great season of ranch bronc riding, winning the Miles City Bucking Horse Sale Open then the Black Hills Roundup. He attributed his skill from a few naughty little horses when he was a kid. The Long Pines horses don't give him much practice anymore - by design!
Long Pines added meat goats to the ranch to help control weeds and other vegetation not favored by cattle and horses. Eventually, some of the meat will be served at our Over The Edge Grill.
