Sometimes a rough start in life brings strength and character. Flame, as this playful, outgoing 2021 red roan filly is called at Long Pines, is full of both.
Out of Long Pines Appaloosa mare YOR Flamin Hot, who Sterling dubbed “Appy,” and by the great national cow horse champion Bettin Yer Smart, Flame is destined to make a mark on the horse world.
Flame was orphaned when Appy was unexpectedly lost in late summer 2021 and adopted by the Long Pines brood mare band. With the mares’ expert mothering, and her innate instinct to fight and win, she thrived.
She comes by the traits naturally.
YOR Flamin Hot comes from a long line of Canadian cow horse champions. Her sire, YOR White Hot, was the 2005 Canadian National Overall High Point Cattle Events Horse. Her paternal grandsire, YOR High Noon, is one of the most winning cow horse Appaloosas of all time, with 17 Canadian national championships. Her maternal line boasts such legendary names as Colonel Freckles and Tanquery Gin, Equi-Stat All-Time Leading Cutting Sire of Foals, earning more than $2.3 million.
The legendary Bettin Yer Smart is from the outstanding cross of Smart Little Lena and Bet Yer Boons, and grandson of NCHA Open World Champion Bet Yer Blue Boons.
At the 2012 Snaffle Bit Futurity, Bettin Yer Smart won the Hackamore division, the first horse from the Northern Plains to win at this prestigious event. A few months later, he won NRCHA World Reserve Open Hackamore Champion. He qualified for NRCHA worlds in hackamore, two-rein and bridle. In the AQHA, he was 2011 High Point Open Junior Working Cow Horse, earning 36.5 AQHA points plus a Register of Merit in Open Performance. Bettin Yer Smart is among an honored few to be named an NRCHA Supreme Working Cow Horse.
With great conformation and an attitude that has already beat the odds, look for Flame to create heat in the future.
Stay tuned!
