“Slim” is a 2013 AQHA Bay Gelding
This top-notch gelding has been sold to a great ranching family near Roy, MT
Slim is a big bodied bay gelding that is a favorite among our cowboys. Born in 2013, he came along quickly and is already a go-to ranch horse and has spent many days working, sorting, roping and doctoring cattle. He is intelligent, covers a lot of country easily and has a strong work ethic. Plus, he is fully nominated to the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge.
His sire is Sir Fred Von Freckle (deceased). Fred was a son of the great Freckles Playboy and his dam is Rosalee Lena (offspring earnings in excess of $59,000) by Doc O’Lena. Fred was a proven cutting, reining and cow horse, including: AQHA World Show Qualifier (2002-Open Sr. Working Cow Horse), 1997 NCHA Fort Worth Futurity 4th Place Limited Open Division) and Champion Open Ranch Horse at the 2003 Black Hills Stock Show. Fred also had an AQHA Open ROM.
Slim’s dam is Feature Coup, whose offspring have been competitive in both NRCHA and barrel racing. This nice mare had limited showing as a yearling but consistently placed high in halter classes in the EMHSC. She was a fluid mover with heavy bone, a baby doll head, and kind disposition; and had royal bloodlines—sired by Feature Jack whose offspring qualified for the AQHA Word Show and PRCA National Finals Rodeo, and out of Gallant Coup, who had her racing career cut short when she was injured at Ruidoso Downs.
