AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders

It takes a combination of talents to make a great horse. We start with legacy bloodlines known for their cow ability, sensibility, speed and agility. With help from trainers Joseph Ferguson and Justin Lawrence, our horses begin with the fundamentals. Once a foundation is built, the horses are asked to do a variety of jobs – both in and out of the arena. Our prospects are multi-talented and showing great potential.

Our prospects receive a great foundation at the ranch. In 2016, we constructed a new training barn so we can continue their education year-round. Remember, every prospect sired by Bettin Yer Smart or Judgemental is fully enrolled in the AQHA Ranching Heritage Program!

Take a look at these up-and-comers, and contact us with questions.

"June" is a 2014 AQHA Gray Mare

This beautiful gray mare is fully nominated to the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge. There is no shortage of run in her pedigree! We’re expecting June to be an outstanding speed event horse, in addition to a super ranch horse. Her dam, Raisinhempenforcash, is a former team roping horse that has produced exceptional ranch and performance horses. June’s grandsire, Dashin Attraction (SI 88; track earnings of $2,384) is a son of the great Dash for Cash. Her grand dam is sired by Dr. Kirk (SI 98; $27,473) out of a daughter of Raise Your Glass (TB).

June’s sire is Judgemental, a son of Judge Cash (SI 110; earnings of $115,936). Judge Cash’s offspring have earned well over $1 million in barrel racing and another $1 million on the track, in addition to including a world champion, seven superior runners, numerous graded stakes winners. Judgemental's dam, Feature Coup, was one of our favorites. Her progeny have earnings in the NRCHA and in barrel racings, plus AQHA points. June is eligible for the AQHA Ranch Horse Heritage Challenges and S.D. Reined Cow Horse Association Stallion Stakes.

Ari has a lot of chrome, and we’ve fully nominated her in the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge. Her grand-dam, Annies Paychex was successfully shown in NRCHA futurities for us by Justin Lawrence and Clark O’Donnell. The dam is sired by the legendary Peptoboosmal, who won $180,487 in the NCHA and was the 1995 NCHA Futurity Open Champion. “Spider” is a 2014 AQHA Gray Gelding

This striking 2014 steel gray gelding is truly a standout. Spider started reined cow horse training in 2017 and has really taken to it -- be watching for him to start his competitive career under the guidance of Justin Lawrence. He has already spent many hours sorting, herding and roping cattle. He will be a ranch horse deluxe and is fully nominated to the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge.

Spider is an intelligent and willing colt with a quiet disposition, combined with eye-appeal and a lot of chrome. His bloodlines are an exceptional combination of speed, cow and athletic ability. His dam is Spark Plug Cat, who is sired by the legendary stallion Shining Spark (NRCHA $3 million sire and $4 million NRHA million-dollar sire) and her dam is by Taris Catalyst (1983 World Champion Open Jr. Cutting; NCHA LTE $181,373). We expect that Spider will excel, just like his dam has. In fact, Cat was a broodmare until entering the show ring in 2007, ending the year being ranked in the NRCHA National Standings with limited showing. She has an AQHA Open Performance ROM yet has proven herself as a go-to ranch horse who can really handle a cow and willingly put in a hard day’s work.

Spider is sired by our own Judgemental, a son of Judge Cash (SI 110; earnings of $115,936) and out of Feature Coup, a proven producer whose offspring are NRCHA and barrel racing earners. Spider’s lineage includes many of our personal favorites because they prove themselves to us day after day. Spider is eligible for the AQHA Ranch Horse Heritage Challenges and S.D. Reined Cow Horse Association Stallion Stakes.

“Coolio” is a 2013 AQHA Chestnut Gelding

“Coolio” is fully nominated to the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge. He entered the working cow horse arena this fall. At the AQHA Region II show ridden by our trainer Justin Lawrence. The pair placed 2nd under one judge and 3rd under another, making Coolio an AQHA point earner already!

He's a grandson of Dual Rey (LTE $118,000 with offspring earnings of $26 million) and Smart Little Lena (LTE $577,652 with offspring earnings of $24 million).

Coolio is sired by Smooth Talking Cat, an outstanding son of Smooth As A Cat (LTE $500,038; 2005 NCHA Horse of the Year; $19.2 million sire), who is out of the great mare, Remedy for Sweets (LTE $204,281) by Grays Starlight whose offspring have won in excess of $6.7 million. Smooth Talking Cat was a Top 10 intermediate Open finalist at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in 2009 and has NRCHA earnings of $23,959.62.

This nice 2013 gelding appears to have the same willingness as his sire. In fact, Smooth Talking Cat is now doing exceptionally well in youth cow horse, reining and related events for a talented girl.
