AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders

It takes a combination of talents to make a great horse. We start with legacy bloodlines known for their cow ability, sensibility, speed and agility. With help from trainers Joseph Ferguson and Justin Lawrence, our horses begin with the fundamentals. Once a foundation is built, the horses are asked to do a variety of jobs – both in and out of the arena. Our prospects are multi-talented and showing great potential.

Our prospects receive a great foundation at the ranch. In 2016, we constructed a new training barn so we can continue their education year-round. Remember, every prospect sired by Bettin Yer Smart or Judgemental is fully enrolled in the AQHA Ranching Heritage Program!

Take a look at these up-and-comers, and contact us with questions.

Slim is such a trustworthy horse, thanks to a combination of carefully-selected genetics and the great work of our Long Pines cowboys. "Despite the terrible wind, snow, mud, ice, loose cows (which he and I chased back in), dogs, and highway traffic...Slim acted like it was nothing. Love him more already and am very impressed!"

“Izzy” is a 2014 AQHA Gray Mare

This striking gray 2014 mare is intelligent, big boned and athletic. Izzy has the combination of cow and speed that will make her a great arena contender or ranch horse. We think enough of her that she is fully nominated to AQHA’s Ranching Heritage Challenge. We decided to keep Izzy when we lost her sire. She is a main ranch mount for brandings, moving cattle and general work. There's no better way to put a solid foundation on our horses.

Izzy’s dam, Smart Miss Dual Rey, is sired by Dual Rey (LTE $118,000; offspring earnings of $26 million) and is out of Smartilena (NCHA LTE $3,384), sired by the immortal Smart Little Lena (LTE $577,652; offspring earnings of $24 million).

Izzy is sired by our own Judgemental, a son of Judge Cash (SI 110; LTE of $115,936; more info here ). Judgemental is out of our mare Feature Coup, a proven producer of NRCHA and barrel racing and AQHA point earners. Izzy is eligible for the AQHA Ranch Horse Heritage Challenges and S.D. Reined Cow Horse Association Stallion Stakes.

“Whiz” is a 2013 AQHA Gray Gelding

Whiz may be a youngster, but he’s already spent many hours sorting, herding and roping cattle. He has a very quiet disposition and a lot of chrome – but don’t let his quiet demeanor fool you – this ranch horse deluxe has a lot of speed! His dam is a granddaughter of both Bugs Alive In 75 (SI 95; $550,969 track earnings) and Mars Landing (SI 104; $15,869 track earnings).

He is sired by our own Judgemental, a son of Judge Cash (SI 110; earnings of $115,936). Judge Cash’s offspring have earned well over $1 million in barrel racing and another $1 million on the track, in addition to including a world champion, seven superior runners, numerous graded stakes winners. His dam, Feature Coup, was one of our favorites. Her progeny have earnings in the NRCHA and in barrel racings, plus AQHA points.
