This elegant-moving mare is sired by Long Pines NRCHA Champion Bettin Yer Smart (Smart Little Lena x Bet Yer Boons), out of Shiney Vaca Reina (Vaca Rey x Miss Shiney Cat). But don't be fooled by her graceful way of covering ground -- she is all business when there's a job to do.
Smart Vaca Reina (Sheba) made her reined cow horse debut in Fall 2019, becoming a NRCHA money-earner at her first show. In 2020, she came into her own, winning the SDRCHA Road to Texas Limited Open Hackamore.
Sheba is at her new home in Oelrichs, SD, for a rodeo career with the Allens. She joins Spoonful O Judgement (Lara), the first Long Pines horse purchased by the Allens. We sincerely thank the family for the future these 2 mares will have. A few days earlier, Sheba's 2018 full sister, Yer Copper Penny, was sold to also go into rodeo training.
Smart Vaca Reina (Sheba) was trained by the team at Justin Lawrence Cow Horses, with lots of hours on the ranch as well as in the arena. Her dark palomino coat with white mane and tail catches everyone’s eye – but we’re just as impressed with her try, grit and kindness. Her half brother, Tuff Vaca Rey, is becoming an outstanding college rodeo horse.
She is part of the first Bettin Yer Smart foal crop. We've found that he is consistently passing on his valued traits of talent, trainability and try. His Peptoboonsmal, Bet Yer Blue Boons and Smart Little Lena bloodlines are coming through will all kinds of agility and cow sense.
Sheba's dam, Shiney Vaca Reina, is sired by Vaca Rey, who is a full brother to Wild Thing DNA ($109,558 earnings). The bottom side of Shiney’s pedigree is just as impressive: the legendary Shining Spark and Taris Catalyst.
Bettin Yer Smart foals born in 2019 and beyond are NRCHA Stallion Stakes eligible. Horses by Bettin Yer Smart and Judgemental are eligible for AQHA Ranchers Heritage and SDRCHA Stallion Stakes.
