As the snow and icy winds blew cross the prairie in a late Spring blizzard, the long awaited filly out of Spark Plug Cat by Bettin Yer Smart made her entrance at Long Pines Land and Livestock.
The worst storm of the year nipped the tips of her ears, but did not dampen her natural born spirit. Under the watchful eye of her mother, she rose to meet her destiny.
Yer Destiny Calls had arrived.
The nurturing mother who took such good care helping Yer Destiny Calls through the storm was Spark Plug Cat, one of Long Pines’ favorite brood mares. The 1998 AQHA bay came to Long Pines in 2006 as a brood mare. By leading cow horse sire Shining Spark and out of NRHA money earner Catalyst Lady Di by Taris Catalyst, a Doc Tari son who was the 1983 World Champion Open Jr. Cutter (NCHA LTE $181,373), Long Pines took a chance and invested in Cat’s cow horse training. It paid off with a successful 2007-2008 showing, with Cat earning her AQHA ROM and 10.5 points; NRCHA North Central Region 2007 Open Two-Rein high point, and champion Open Senior Working Cow Horse at the AQHA Region II Experience.
Yer Destiny Calls’ sire is the legendary Bettin Yer Smart, out of Smart Little Lena and Bet Yer Boons, and grandson of NCHA Open World Champion Bet Yer Blue Boons. At the 2012 Snaffle Bit Futurity he won the Hackamore division, the first horse from the Northern Plains to win at this prestigious event. A few months later, he won NRCHA World Reserve Open Hackamore Champion. He qualified for NRCHA worlds in hackamore, two-rein and bridle.
In the AQHA, he was 2011 High Point Open Junior Working Cow Horse, earning 36.5 AQHA points plus a Register of Merit in Open Performance. Bettin Yer Smart is among an honored few to be named an NRCHA Supreme Working Cow Horse.
Bettin Yer Smart and Spark Plug Cat produced 3 foals before Yer Destiny Calls, and another in 2021. Betting Limits and Bet Ya Shine are top ranch horses. Inside Bet was purchased as a weanling as a rope horse prospect.
Yer Destiny Calls is the only filly and will be staying at Long Pines.
After all, it is her destiny.
Stay tuned!
